The Two Sides of Eiffel – Best Photo Spot?

Eiffel Tower is probably one of the most iconic symbol of Paris.

But where is the best photo spot?

Champ de Mars

Eiffel Tower with Champ de Mars. One of the most classic, iconic view of the city of Paris.

And yes, one of the most touristy as well.

If you would like to take good picture, I strongly recommend going in the morning. On one hand it is slightly less crowded in the morning (we travellers know it, sometimes we just get lazy and don’t want to wake up early!), but more importantly, the lighting is much better in the morning. This part of the tower faces the Champ de Mars, which is facing the east. And we all know the Sun rises from the East in the morning.

So, if you want to take a stunning photograph and send it to your friend, get your arse up and wake earlier, have a breakfast in the 5th arrondissement, then take the subway here.

The other (back) side of Eiffel Tower. If you are the lazy type of tourists and do not want to wake up early, then perhaps Trocadéro might be a better option for you, especially in the evening, because this side of the tower faces the west. If you go in the morning or noon (like the photo above), there will probably be strong backlight. But if you make good use of it, it can make interesting pictures too!

Trocadéro has another edge – it is slightly elevated. Therefore it is less likely that your photos will be ruined by undesired random I-don’t-know-who pedestrians.

Any better options, dear Parisien?
