Taichung Rainbow Village – Most Colourful Place in Taiwan

Ever wonder where the most colourful place on Earth is? The Rainbow Village in Taichung could be one of them.

Taichung Rainbow Village

Located in the West of Taichung City, the Rainbow Village is definitely one of the most “Instagrammable places”. Vivid walls painted with amazing colourful drawings. Children will love this place too, undoubtedly.

The village was one of the many “Military dependents’ village” (眷村) established in the 1950/60’s. Who would have imagined that it would become one of the most popular tourist spot in Taichung in the 21st century?

You may be amazed to know that the village was originally to be demolished in 2008. One of the residents, who was later known as the “Rainbow Granddad” Uncle Huang, started painting on the wall, which eventually caught the attention of the media and the community. The government later decided to conserve this wonderful place in 2010.

This is such a wonderful place! What a shame if the village was demolished!

These days there is a shop selling some drinks and snacks in the village.

On a hot summer’s day, what could be better than a cup of icy watermelon juice? Look at the cup. It is beautiful.
